HUDSON VALLEY AND WEST POINT

DAY 1: We arrive in the Hudson Valley for a late afternoon check in. Tonight we tour and dine at the Culinary Institute of America. The CIA is a world renowned culinary school that will certainly entertain your senses. (D)

DAY 2: This morning we will be touring two exquisite and unique homes. Our first stop is at Springwood, home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, America’s 32nd President. Its interior remains just as it was during Roosevelt’s lifetime. Our next home is the Vanderbilt Estate. This home is the best example of the types of estates constructed by wealthy industrialists in the 19th century. The fully furnished 54 room mansion is placed in a wondrous landscape with breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains. This afternoon, we take a narrated Hudson River Cruise and sail by Bannerman Island and its castle ruins, Mt. Beacon, Storm Mountain and much more. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant along the Hudson River. (B,D)

DAY 3: A guided tour of the US Military Academy, West Point will begin our day. Points of interest include the chapels, monuments, statues, barracks and parade grounds. Free time is available to explore the West Point Museum, the largest and oldest military museum in North America. lunch today is a bountiful buffet at the historic Thayer hotel located on the grounds of West Point. The Thayer is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places has served its guests in an elegant setting since 1926. (B,L)
